Our beloved caravans. Our lovely, beautiful static caravans. All stood empty. Caravan owners with a restricted season spent all winter dreaming of March 1st. That glorious day when we could all return to our caravan parks. This year however it was not to be. Who would have thought we would all get thrown out of our caravans and the caravan parks would all be closed! My caravan park manager and his family are loving the peace and quiet. The park they manage has no entertainment facilities and only a few caravan rentals so as they've received the site fees they're quite happy really. The larger holiday parks such as Haven who have entertainment complexes and lots of caravan rentals have been hit very hard.
Ireland announced that is planning on reopening caravan parks in July. The British government has still made no announcements about when caravan parks will open which means, given the three week staging of announcements, the earliest the caravan parks will reopen is in July. Wales is at least 6 weeks behind England so it may be even longer before the caravan parks in Wales reopen. There is a fear that parts of the country, in particular West Wales and much of Scotland, will remain closed to visitors for much if not all of the summer. Some people in Gwynedd are quite happy about this I understand.
All we can do is wait and look forward to the good times ahead!
